I've never seen a coach that good fuck himself so badly or quickly.
Is there ever a situation where going for it at your own 30 in a one score game makes any sense? |

I get that Manning has been clutch lately. But their D has done as good of job as anyone had all game. Then you put them in that position? You just told them you have zero faith in them in a big spot.

Fuck it. He was trying to win the game. People are still crushing Tom Coughlin's nuts after settling for a FG last week, and turning it over to his defense.

In Gillette Stadium that 4th down play would have been spotted on the 30 . .. first down pats. BUT they didn't receive the BJ from the refs this time
Was stupid of belichick to go for it, and very unlike him to blow a couple of timeouts too hate the pats . .. loved watching that |

You win the game by playing the percentages and believing in your entire team. Including your D that had already picked Manning twice.

To boot, they had the ball with 4:10 to go, passed on that 3rd down instead of running, got the same FG they would've gotten at 3:30, then squandered timeouts for no reason. |

If your going to go for it in a situation like that.. why not just run the ball on 3rd down?

I understand the percentages. In this case, I just think it's refreshing to see a coach show some balls and go for the win. They get that yard, and Belichick is Coach of the Year in the media's eyes. That's just the way it works. Now, blowing two timeouts for no reason was fucking stupid, but I still admire the decision to try and end the game right there. If you're playing against Jamarcus Russell, of course you punt. But when Peyton Manning needs six points to win, against a prevent defense, he's probably going to get it regardless of where he starts the drive.

And he was trying to win the game.
Do "the percentages" really exist, or is that just a bunch of voo-doo shit. I've never seen the actual percentages that distinguish converting a yard from making a team drive 60 yards. |

The statistics that I can dig up say 100% of the time: "PUNT THE FUCKING BALL".

Going for the win I thought was when you were BEHIND. They were AHEAD when he made this call. Crazy.
